To speed up your DL rate:
Check the firewall on xp or on your router...make sure the TCP and UDP listening port settings is the same as your bittorent agent.
go start->control panel->windows firewall->click on exceptions. You can do this two ways:
1: Add your bittorent client to the list. Usually it is already there. If not click on the "Add Program" button and add it to the list.
2: Add a port to refer to client u are using. click on the "Add port" button. In the name field type whatever u want, my advice is to type the name of your bittorent client followed by the listening port u are using on the client. In the port number field type the listening port number that u are using on your bittorent client. Then select TCP. Now, select "OK" button. We then add another port, following the same instructions as before but this time we select UDP. Now u should be able to get your light green. This is for your windows firewall.
For your router, type in your default gateway in your address bar for others there might be a different way to access the configs on their router. Look for something like Virtual Servers. In there u will have to enter the port that u would like to open which would be the same as your bittorent client listening port. Enter it into your TCP. Then into your UDP. For some they can select both TCP/UDP. If they give u a range for the port jus make the range the same as the listening port on your client. e.g. 45678 - 45678.
