Or just leave comment here...oops.
Peace still...
Hi,
Solved the problem? If not: Qustion: Have you changed the tcpip half-open limit? You notice that box under that says, "disable file system protection"? Well, changing your tcp settings is DANGEROUS! And, DO NOT install the tcp patch that's floating around, even if you get a pop up from BitComet themselves.
Next: There is a function within Win XP that when checked with automatically restart your system upon system failure. Uncheck it, don't worry it's one of those non-essentials Microsoft throws in for people who don't realize when their system totally freezes they can just turn the power button off! LOL
Here's how: Start, Control Panal, System Properties. Open System Properties and click the Advanced Tab. Three sections. The bottom one, Starup and Recovery. Push the Settings button next to Startup/Recovery. Then simply find the little box that says AUTOMATICALLY RESTART. It's probably checked, uncheck it. Click Apply and restart your system.
To ensure it doesn't happen again, as you still have the problem of system failur just not restarting, uninstall Bitcommet, Bitdefender and do a cold boot. Reinstall Bitcommet but don't use Bitdefender, I'm guessing you had compatibility problems with bitdefender, your firewall, virus protection and tcp settings. Go get a program called PEER GUARDIAN, it's far less intrusive.
As far as your tcp settings go, if you have broadband of any sort, you'll find even if you get it to work, it makes VERY little difference so leave it alone.
