Casey Stoner will start the Gran Premio Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana in pole position after repeating his domination of the free practice sessions in qualifying

The Australian topped the timesheet by a clear 0.263s, with a best lap of 1’32.256 securing him the lead on the front row of the grid.

Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa was next quickest as he improved his own best practice time by over 0.4s to secure second place, ahead of Jorge Lorenzo.

Lorenzo, who was third fastest overall in the practice sessions, was not far behind with a margin of just 0.018s separating him from his fellow Spaniard.

2009 World Superbike champion Ben Spies is making his Yamaha MotoGP debut as a wild-card this weekend, while Aleix Espargaro is again replacing the injured Niccolo Canepa at Pramac Ducati.

Spies moved from 15th on Friday to 12th this morning and ahead of fellow Yamaha rider James Toseland, whom he will replace at Tech 3 in 2010. Spies had been 2.239sec from Stoner on Friday, but was only 1.377sec behind on Saturday morning.

Spies was also the fastest Yamaha rider in a straight line this morning, clocking 312.0km/h to once again hold seventh......

Ben Spies concluded his first hour as a Yamaha MotoGP rider with the 15th fastest lap time during Friday practice for the season-ending Valencian Grand Prix.

The 2009 rookie World Superbike champion hovered between eleventh and 15th for much of the hour, which he concluded with a best lap 2.239sec behind fastest man Casey Stoner, but only 0.187sec behind James Toseland, whom he will replace at Tech 3 Yamaha next season.

'Strong' Lorenzo out to break Valencia drought

Having only taken one podium during his seven previous visits to Valencia as a grand prix rider, Jorge Lorenzo is hopeful of finally breaking his win drought after finishing Friday practice for the 2009 season finale in second position.

Stoner pulls clear in Valencia practice

Casey Stoner pulled comfortably clear of Spanish home heroes Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa during free practice at Valencia on Friday, at the start of the final race weekend of the 2009 MotoGP season.

Stoner - who has finished 2nd, 1st and 1st in the three races since his mid-season break to treat fatigue problems - hit the top of the timesheets late in the session, making several improvements on his way to a comparatively large (for Valencia) 0.382sec advantage over nearest rival Lorenzo (Fiat Yamaha).

Lorenzo only needs to score one point this weekend to prevent Stoner taking second in the championship from him, but pride will......

Suppo to leave Ducati for Honda

Ducati MotoGP project manager Livio Suppo will leave the team after this weekend's Valencia Grand Prix and join Honda Racing Corporation for 2010.

Suppo, who has worked for Ducati for 11 years, will take a new role as HRC's MotoGP marketing director instead. "It's been a very good relationship for me; 11 years working with Ducati has been a dream, and I think together we have achieved something good, like the 2007 world championship," said Suppo.

It was bound to happen. AT&T is suing Verizon Wireless over its "There's a Map for That" advertising campaign.

When I first saw the advertisements on TV, I thought for sure that AT&T or Apple would file a lawsuit claiming the

advertisement was too similar to the iPhone's "There's an App for That" slogan.

I was right about one thing. AT&T is suing Verizon. But I was wrong about the reason behind the suit.

AT&T's beef isn't over the wording of the "There's a Map for That" slogan. Instead the company claims that Verizon is

misleading customers into thinking that AT&T subscribers are not able to use their phones in areas where the carrier does not

offer 3G wireless coverage.

In the suit that AT&T filed Tuesday in Atlanta federal court, AT&T describes how Verizon's ad campaign shows maps with white

spaces, which it claims misleads consumers into thinking that AT&T has no wireless coverage in particular areas of the

country.
