"Why it is believed that spiritual practice is possible only within traditationly accepted limits and not outside them?"

Meditation, observance of silence and physical relaxation are indeed spiritual practises but are speaking, eating, drinking, sitting and standing are not spiritual practices? The following story illustrates this point:

Once two kings went hunting , rinding their own chariots. One chariot got burned down, while the horse pulling the othe chariot died. Both the kings were stranded. But they worked it out.One gave his chariot and the other horse. and the two were able to return to town.
The same is true of spiritual practice. In a fragmented or partial form it does not bring liberation. The integrity of spiritual practice is questioned by those who insist that it is possible only in a particular place, at a particular time and through a particular activity and not otherwise. One of the incongruities of life is spending two hours in spiritual practice and remaining 22 hrs. in non spiritual pursuits.

nice topic...i could say spiritual practice as well as religious beliefs are subjective matters...and for me, as long as one doesn't hurt another or others, he is always free and respected to practice his own beliefs

I've been in touch with Yoga practice since 1970. So I must telle you that spirituality is a state of the mind. With practice like yoga zen etc you learn how to make your self (body and mind) naturally stable with it. At this moment you're spiritual, no you're the source of spirituality.

(excuse my english)

Well , all depends on your concentration ; if you are mentaly very powerful and your thoughts are focused in a spiritual mater is fine but for those who can't they must follow a path even they choose a traditional one or not , path is necesary until you get to the end of it than you no need it ; do not blame the spiritual paths (religions, etc) for you understandings or missunderstandings all you need is to pay attention to yourself . When you will develope your own path and when you will have at least 20% success on it than you can talk about others till than you better start learning and understanding with mind and heart otherwise all your life you will hunt questions without answer . religions are the results of many people experiences in a particular direction , it takes centuries maybe milleniums to be what they are , so stop asking what is good to do or not just do it if you feel it . as jesus said give to the cesar what belongs to cesar and to god what belongs to god .

cheers!

religions do not give us peace. it is spirituality that gives us peace.

religions tells us the path of having peace.

You′re right, i think you can have a spiritual moment just by listening to a great album or by reading a good book. It is just a state of mind and not a conexion with some god or higher being like most people think.
