TODAY!

Before you start reading this - I am a teacher.

I had to go to my class, usually I don't because I have a building where I conduct classes. But the timetable changed and it was only one period (30 mins). I would rather save time and go to their class then wait for them to take 10 to 15 mins to get to my building because they walk slow. Everything went as I would usually expect.

When class was over.

I walked down the stairs and towards where my building / staffroom was. Passing by many classes who are all waiting for their next teacher to come in. SERIOUSLY, after reaching down the stairs I get greeted by many many many many many mannnnnyyyyy boys (especially) saying"hi t'cher" with they sneaky (sort of) horny looking smiles you get from  the streets. Or eyes that look like they have x-ray visions and loving it but ain't telling no one. I don't really like that much attention. So each class I pass by, clusterfuck load of students block the door just to say hi to me and some stood next to the window.

When I look ahead, I saw even more boys ahead. Up on the 1st floor and more around the staircase. "OH MY GAWD!", I screamed in my head. Good thing, there were two pathway for me to choose from. So I detoured and went through the deserted way.

At that point, I just wished how I could wear those big-ass housefly glasses so I dont really need to make eye contact with them. Usually, when I need to be a relief teacher, I get papparazi students asking me questions bout

"how old are you?"

"are you single or married?"

"where do you live?"

"where are you from?"

"are you going to be permanant in this school?"

"what do you teach?"

and occassional
"how much are you paying for your braces?"

I really don't mind ONLY if it was a few students who asks this so maybe they can spread the information around maybe on the Internet or in an imaginary school gossip magazine. This way I don't need to repeat myself.

I would probably have to get used to this. I remember when I first came here, I thought to myself "I know that by the time when the students stop whistling and looking like that at me with smiles, I'm old". So I should actually enjoy this, no?

There is nothing missing - well maybe the millions of dollars salary.

But since I became a teacher,

I got pervert eyes and only 1 girl who didn't like me so far.

I got rumours of being with another teacher.

I got students asking me if they could take my picture. Some together with them. Some with only me in the picture (which was weird).

Some 'interview' about myself and where I'm from and what I did.

I haven't got a stalker but I ain't ruling that out just yet.

I am sure every student in school knows me after 4 months.

I remember before, two girls walked by me.

One says, "afternoon t'cher".

So I smile and say, "hello".

The one who didn't greet me asked her friend after passing by, "Is she a teacher??"

It is not a full on celebrity life but enough to know that I wouldn't be able to take that path on my own if I became one.

lol... i dont mind attention for sure (you're right), but when I do get it, I don't know how to handle it. Besides why should I only blog about normal routine things. Probably end up knowing what I do each day in 3 wks. Better to write about things people don't normally do or experience everyday (and that was a one time exp).

Change lives is something I hope to do since I got this job. Like make them realise if they get enough credits for their 'o' levels they go places easily than those who don't. But students' mind works this way - in one way and out the other. I can only try and hope it stick in their head rather than regret.
