Set Windows XP firewall to unblock BitComet?

Generally, when BitComet first runs in your computer with Windows XP system, you will be notified to set the firewall to block or unblock BitComet, if you enable the system firewall. In this case, you should set it as “unblock”. Or else, you need to change some settings of the firewall according to this guide.

Click “Start”->”Settings”->”Control Panel”->”Windows Firewall”, make sure that “Don’t allow exceptions” is unselected whether the firewall is on or off.

Then, click “Exceptions” tag; check all the items in “Programs and Services”; make all BitComet services and UpnP Framework selected. Don’t forget to click “OK” to save the changes.

My Windows XP firewall is already set up as the pictures above. My router is DLINK DIR-615, I went to the advanced tab for my router and found spaces to type but I don't know if I did anything correct when adding BitComet port number and my computer's address. I still have a Yellow light and the word Blocked in the lower right corner of BitComet. I just saw a download speed of 487, to me that's a bigger than usual number I was using BitComet on my vista laptop and I had a green light there, but now I am using online banking, I removed BitComet from my laptop and added Bitcomet to my oldest computer which is only going to be used for BitComet. I am wanting to protect my ID.

you need to be on line. in the address line of your internet browser type your ip address, it will open up your modem port. When you see all the information about your modem in the open browser window you need to elect to allow bitcomet use of the port window. remember to check ok to activate

hope this helps

since upgrading to the latest bitcomet 1.0.2 I have had pepetual yellow light on my port window. Before the upgrade I had an open port, Ihad not changed any of my firewall settings as this was ment to be a simple upgrade of a program. Now I have methodically gone through everything, firewall. port and nat routers etc etc, but I have a permanent yellow port light. I have tried ramdom changes to the port connection. With all the comments about the same problem could it be a programming fault?/glitch.

any other suggestions>?

email me loulouherbert@hotmail.com if you can think of any other sane solutions

I found a way to solve the yellow light problem:

1) Open up your router page. you can do that by entering you default gateway I.P. into the adress ar which will customly be 192.168.1.1

2) Enter username and password (both admin by default).

3) Go to the option (Applications And Gaming) or (Port Forwarding).

4) If you went to application and gaming, you should select (single Port Forwarding).

5) Go to BitComet.

6) Then click on Option > Connection > Listen Port. Copy The Port Number Available There.

7) Return to router page.

8) Paste or type the port number in (external port) and (internal port).

9) Give it a name.

10) In Protocol choose (UDP).

11) In IP Address type in your ip address or the final digits of it as required.

12) Check the box that says (Enable Now)

13) Press Save.

14) Go to BitComet and right click the yellow light, and press check again.

If This Did not work then consult your Internet Server Provider.
