I have been trying to figure this one out !! I used to be able to PREVIEW movies/videos, etc. but after reinstalling my OS, bitcomet, etc, etc, It doesnt' work anymore... I have VLC installed, latest version and i even installed the MPCStar player, it still DOESN't WORK !!!!

PLZ HELP !!!

I used BitComet,bittorrent and utorrent so far and I sticked with BitComet for the good speed combined with a good interface.

It's easy to configure as well and i would give it 7/10 for resource use (mainly RAM). Others like Azureus and such, Java platform clients are notorius for "eating" up your resources with a large spoon.

So far, I wouldn't change BitComet for another client, because no other convinced me of being {more effective+user friendly+resource efficient}.I've been using it for about 2 years now. The only problems seen so far is a few bugs here and there, like the way the process lags when you open the properties panel................(BitComet 0.98)

For those of you interested in this thread, I'd be curious to know:

1. How long you've been using BitComet;what version are you using now?

I've only been able to get hold of the first season thru torrents....

I am a HUUUUGE fan of Clint Eastwood and I have most of his movies, westerns, Dirty Harry series, etc., etc.

I've been able to locate some websites that actually sell ALL the series but unfortunately I can't have it shipped to me (Romania), which SUCKS !!!!

I'm trying to see the differences from country to country.

I'm in Romania and i pay about 30 RON which means about 12 USD, 6 GBP or 9 € and i have a 3 Mbps (384 KB/s) line on a LAN network connection.

I've been in the US and noticed speeds there are pretty high and 10 Mbps lines are quite common and I've also been living in the UK for a while where they also have pretty decent connections, though a bit pricey.

I'm waiting to hear about your country..............

Of those of you that have reached a high level and are among , let's say the first 10.000, have you noticed a serious improvement in your download speeds/peer connections/etc ??

I've got a lappie that's done me well, had it for more than 2 years now, in which time it's been on at LEAST 2/3 of any day. The battery lost some of it's ummph in time, lasts me 3,5 hours instead of 5,5 but......what can i say, considering the circumstances.

What do you think , is it safe or not to keep computers on all the time ???

I've been using BitComet for a few years now, only found out bout the points and ranking and lieutenants and all that quite recently

I think it's a brilliant idea from the developers of BitComet, it spices up things a bit and makes uploading more probable to be dobe NOT only by some few "dedicated" idealists that believe everything must be fair and they must "Take some/Give some" BUT also by lotsa of users that think it's nice to be a GENERAL !!!

Personally, I've experienced a great load of speed increase, and I think it's mainly coz lotsa people seed much more than they used to. I also became more of a seeder than I used to be. In fact, having a laptop that uses something like 20 W of electricity while on, I don't bother to put it off at all, it's been on for like....AGES...!!!

I'm curios to know how many others out there changed their pattern of using BitComet in the sense of becoming more of a seed rather than a leech, thanks......
