'Let It be' (To be whether or Leave) is a song of The Beatles and the most representative of record that bears his name along with "Get Back" and "The Long And Winding Road". It was composed by Paul McCartney (although in the credits is signed as a Lennon / McCartney) and launched as a single in March 1970. The single reached number one in the United States and number two in the United Kingdom. It was number one on the lists of countries such as Australia, Norway and Switzerland.
As soon as the disc is being developed in the study projected that the title was "Get Back", which is why this issue was interpreted in the famous concert on the roof of Apple Records, but the work was finally postponed until 1970, at which time the original cuts were republished by Phil Spector, who had commissioned the production desire to John Lennon. It was at that time when the Beatles decided that the disc is called "Let It Be", as the song got a touch "majestic" and not "crude", as expected, Paul McCartney, due to the incorporation of arrangements orchestral some of the items, and greater emphasis to the choruses and other arrangements to the detriment of the battery, in implementing some of the techniques popularized by Spector, and known as the Wall of Sound. Although "Let It Be" was the last record that was released by the British band, it was not the last in the study.
Paul McCartney would show displeased, especially with The Long And Winding Road orchestral arrangements by Phil Spector. Later published, and in 2003, "Let It Be Naked", a double disc with items without aggregates Spector.
"Let It Be" was also the name of the documentary of the band performing their themes in the study of Apple Records and on the terrace. (U2 later did the same thing, acting on a terrace with Where the street have no name)
McCartney said he wrote "Let It Be" inspired dream after her mother during the tense sessions for writing the "Get Back Album." McCartney explained that his mother, who had died when she was 14 years old, was the inspiration of Mother Mary referred to the letter. Subsequently McCarney said:
I would love to come back to visit me. I was blessed to have that dream. That made me write 'Let It Be'.
In an interview later said that his mother had told him:
Everything will be fine, only Leave Be (Let It Be).
The receipt of the song by the criticism was very positive. The All Music Guide said it was one of the most popular and beautiful ballads of the Beatles. Ian MacDonald disagrees to the general view and believes that the song has achieved fame exceeds its musical value, and that was like Hey Jude but without the emotion of this. John Lennon also commented on Let It Be, in fact, before a recording session on January 31, 1969, asked: "Are we supposed to laugh at yourself?". In the interview he gave to Playboy Lennon in 1980, he denied any involvement in the compositional process of the song. He said:
That's Paul. What can we say? Nothing to do with the Beatles. It could have been Wings. I do not know what he is thinking when he writes Let It Be. I think that was inspired by Bridge over Troubled Water. This is my opinion.
MacDonald believes that Lennon is mistaken if it believes the inspiration came from Bridge over Troubled Water because Let It Be was published a year before the song by Simon and Garfunkel. According to the All Music Guide, Simon and Garfunkel performed the song live in 1969 before being published, but it is not possible for the McCartney had listened before the recording session of January 31, 1969.
Finally The Beatles together again and in front of 700 people, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr sang Let It Be during the funeral of Linda McCartney in the church of St Martin - in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square in 1998 .
I hope that all your dreams are fulfilled and that you reach your inspiration of a good memory declare Paul after the burial.
