I am just being curious.  I want to know what you think of when you hear the word "America?"  Yes, I am an American.  And, yes, I am proud of that fact.  I think everyone should be proud of the country they come from.  However, I would just like to hear other people's opinion of my country.  I do not take every word personally so please don't be afraid to say anything.  Now, I will tell you that I have been on the other side of the pond many, many times, and the people there have always treated me very good.  Heck, they said they loved my accent!  I did not even know I had one. lol  Now, I am no fool, I will be the first to tell you that my country is not perfect.  I admit many American's are spoiled brats!  They don't appreciate what they have in life.  Also, many of them are set in their own way of thinking.  They don't see outside of our border lines.  Soon, I will be calling the country on the other side of the pond my home, and I will be proud of that, because that means I will be enjoying my life with the man that I love.  I guess that is why I am asking this question.  What do you think when you hear the word "America?"

i used to think flippin America thinks its King of countries & that the people thought they were better than the rest of us. I also thought of guns & gangs.

As you know I recently visited Indiana & have totally changed my view..most of the people I met were lovely & yes they adored my accent...Yeh there was some idiots that were rude or down right pervs but hey don't we get them in all countries

Be well & happy

Thanks for your comment mate.  I must admit that I had a close mind to the country over the pond from me.  No, I never hated it.  I just had a few negative thoughts about it, and when I went over there and the plane landed the first thought was that I was home!  Weird, huh?  I loved it over there.  The people and all.  And, yes...we all have the pervs! lol  Thanks again for your comment.

There is no such a things as perfect countries of perfect people. There is only perfect moments, some ones action at that particular moment is makes it perfect or not.

I never been to America, but I bet its wonderful country. I met so many Americans, and all of them are much better than most of the Europeans in so many ways.

I’m a Sri Lankan and I moved in to UK couple of years back. When I was in Sri Lanka we had tourists from all over the world. I know for a fact, English people are the most polite but Americans are always friendlier than every body else.

I used to think countries like America or UK always want to see the destruction of countries like mine, and that’s why they never help us with our civil wars. But after I came to UK I realise the truth. Which is they are busy with fighting with their own battles.

Any way you should be proud of your country, no matter what it did.

Sorry to tell you but America is a continent, not a country...That is one thing I really hate about people from The United States, they think they are the whole fucking continent...but if you take a map them you′ll see there is a lot of land outside your beloved US and many people as well...

So when you see the word "America," you think of many other countries besides just the USA.  That does not bother me.  An interesting fact at that.  However, I believe the word "Americans" started back when the country was first discovered by the Europeans.  And, it has never changed since.  Not that I am blaming anyone...just stating a fact.

Hey, thanks for the comment.  I too believe most of us are nice and polite to others.  As well as the people over in your neck of the woods.  I love meeting new people from different places in the world.  I find most to be very friendly and we think a lot of the same.  I have learned many beautiful things of the rest of the world through these friends, and hope that I have given them the same thoughts about the US.
