Myth 1
Fresh vegetables are better than frozen. (umm is it really true?)
Be honest, how long do the fresh vegetables you buy languish at the bottom of the fridge before you eat them?
Some of us leave them for three days more or less. there's still a snob factor about frozen produce, yet frozen veg is often nutritious and, well, fresher, than fresh.
Take Birds eye peas, picked and frozen within 2 1/2 hours to lock in valuable nutrients. A good freshness test is to measure levels of vitamin C, the most easily destroyed vitamin.
Research by Unilever, Birds Eye's parent company, shows there's more vitamin C in frozen peas, broccol, and so on than in fresh peas in their pods stored at room tmeperature for three days.
