After reading and posting on different blogs I have come up with this Beauty of a Gem. Seeders and leechers the positive and the negative, the ying and yang , yadi yada. We all seems to repeat ourselves over and over. No offense anyone! This not a personal attack! We did this back in the days of BBSing, file share ratios, who uploaded and who downloaded. We checked everyday to see what people were doing, then some of us realized that some people out there don't know jack shit about computers or protocals about no bashing flameing and so on. When they joined a BBS , some came to chat, some came to post their messages to friends in another countries or continents, and then there was the files. People came for the files some to try some who couldn't afford software (students :) and of course all us Sysops, Looking for that new connection for new files. You who had the newest files had the busiest BBS. Then came the internet, Eudora and FTP ahhh the simple life where I remember like yesterday I'd ftp all those photos and files all in one shot from my friends and vice versa. Where we didn't have RATIOS for a short but brief time period all because some hackers took it alittle too far and went after other files or to crash a system because they didn't like another sysop....Bring back any memories people??? Sure it does to those of us who remember. It was us the Sysop's who told our users how to do things and not piss off the rest of the community. About Respect and Respecting others. I also remember the following I just posted somewhere else today.
" Today this has all changed but not the fact that most people who start downloading have no clue as to what they are doing or how to do it. I leave my system up almost 24/7 except when I need to work-work not playing a game, not posting and so on. Besides it is better to leave your system up than it is to power up and down. Less wear on the system components. I have files seeding now for a month now. When there is a demand it needs a supply. I'm not talking about 100's of files but 20-40 or so. I also realize that not all people have unlimited internet access which can leave you with one hell of a BIG BILL!! I tell friends and clients to be aware of their ISP's plan limits First. Good education is the first step to a better system over all. Better for you, me and, all of us. This of course is my own opinion which I Share with you the readers. "
This was posted in reply to leechers and their bad habits. As I stated earlier there are people who are clueless and leechers shouldn't us this as a pretext "oh I didn't know" Yes you did and you know who you are, so do we. Times up! Wake up a smell the coffee, get with the program! I would hate to go back to ratios and limits because of a few bad apples. The Internet was supposed to liberate us FreeNet free access to information. Least we forget what it was like 10 15 years ago. All the same bullshit again all over No Thanks! So lets educate rather than circle the wagons and build that wall again. Remember the WAll?!.... Berlin..... IT FELL!! And thats all I have to say about that.
