VIRUS ALERT ON BITCOMET BLOGS
Size: Large, Medium, Small Mon Apr 14, 08 01:28 AM | Category: All

There is a virus by the name of JS/Downloader agent present in the bitcomet blogs. I thought it was only me who was having this problem but then I read the post by Christara and knew that it was being experienced by other users as well.

Basically this virus is a malware and opens unwanted popups when we are on this site, but I had my comp screwed up because I thought my AV program had removed it, but it was lurking in the background and finally I had to have my drives formatted.

Even Google search is warning about the blog.bitcomet.com with a warning that it is an unsafe site. Now we have to trust Google, because before it had not given such warnings.

I dont know what the fellows running the bitcomet site doing about it, if they dont do anything soon this site will have to shut down, much to the dismay of users like us and it by chance it enters the main bitcomet program then the bitcomet community will be doomed.

I would suggest that anyone having problems like this should write in the blogs so that it is brought to the notice of all the bloggers.

Hello there.

This issue is solved. To put it short, both the commentpages (in the BitComet application) and the blogpages were defaced by hackers. It looks like they're still attacking the English forums with something that looks like a DDOS attack to me. (That's why it's unreachable and has database problems)

-

The malicious code is removed and the securityholes are fixed.

-

However, you're talking about a pop-up. When the malicious code was planted on the BitComet websites, it was much more sneaky. It was an invisible Iframe written to fool antiviruses and auto-download a worm. It didn't trigger a pop-up.

-

I've browsed around and I don't see any pop-up windows. It might be my browser that is automatically blocking it. Can you please copy the URL from that pop-up next time you see it?

-

Best regards,

XSTREM.

hell yeah, firefox w/ ad block plus or equivalent, as they STOP that stuff from happenning even if it makes iot far enough to work in the first place in the fF enviromnment, and not to be a dick or anything, but not just this virus is malware, but ALL of them, any MALiscous softWARE is malware. Dear lord people protect yourselves. Get a BO blocker like Comodos or spybots tea timer (and pay attantion to it). get ONE good Antivirus (avast is free AND heavy duty) ONE good firewall (even if its windows dont duoble up- you WILL have problems, even if you didnt realize you were) and TWO good spyware programs (wont hurt nothing but malware :-)

And for the LOVE OF PETE check the comments on each download if there are any to be sure. To even play a file long enough for it to say Go here download this to watch movie is long enough to deliver a maliscious kludge. Finally- don't use AOL its trash, just spend some time and figure out how to work your damned pc like every one else.

Yeah... I was SOOOO here...
