Synopsis :
A
very romantic love story told through the times from 5000 years ago. A
very tragic story about the Mikage family whose ancestor stole the
feathered robe of a fairy/goddess so she could not return to heaven.
The Mikage man married the goddess (Ceres) and so the Mikage family
decedents had the blood of the goddess. Ceres' powers and personality
reemerged in Aya, present day descendant of Ceres.

This
tale perfectly combines grim horror, and romance. As the tale unfolds,
the author, Yuu Watase, uses horror and action, to influence the
decisions of the characters, in a way that makes the story move in
unknown directions. The story is full of indecision, about Toya's past,
and Aya's future. I highly reccomend this series.
The animation is a bit oldschool in the anime, so unless you're into
seriously oldschool animation, I would reccomend the manga for its
beautiful art. The anime is not that great, the animation is hard to
watch, and the voice actors are awful, partly because this anime is
more than a few years old.
So, I gave this anime a five since it has a great story, but the anime
is painful to watch and the voice actors are something awful.

I
liked the anime, but I prefer the manga. What I didn't like the most
what that the end of the episodes were the kind of ending that makes
you say bad words! (in example, one of the characters is being harassed
by bad guys, but we don't know what happens to him because it's the end
of the episode... and then when you download the next episode and that
the computer just doesn't want to read it, it pisses you off!) Also,
there's many moments that take too long. In example, in one of the
first episodes, one of the characters received a "gift" from her
grandfather. It tooks her like 5 to 10 minutes before she finally opens
it! Well, in fact, it's her brother who opened it (this moment is seen
on the second image of Ayashi no Ceres' reviews page) Anyway, now to
talk about good things about it! ^^
Well, the voice in Japanese are exactly (or almost) the same as I was
imagining. They suit them so well! It seems like it's their original
voice. That's how I feel anyway. The music's pretty cool too!
There's not many episodes though. Only 26. But all the episodes are
really good. There's always something that happens and that's pretty
cool. Many events are so unpredictable or you didn't think it would
really happen.
The story's often sad, but there's much comedy in it too. You will
laugh at each episode for sure. You can cry as well because you laughed
too hard or because it was really sad. Though you have to be very
sensitive to cry. Sometimes, my throat hurts because it's sad, but I
just can't cry! I mean it's not the reality so I cannot cry. But it's
still really sad sometimes! Wouldn't it be sad if all your family is
turning their back to you and wants to kill you?... That's what
happening to Aya because of her tennyo blood that she didn't want at
all...
Plus, it's an anime for everyone! Not for only girls or for only boys.
There's action for boys, romance for girls and angst for everyone!!
I hope you'll all get to see the anime. I wasn't that
disappointed about it! Sure there's many things that can frustrate you,
but the story's all there and there's no crappy ending. There's a REAL
ending that everyone will be satisfied! It's really worth it guy don't
miss it the chance to watch it! ^-^

Ayashi no Ceres, an intense drama.
Since the beginning until the end, it's so sad that after I watched
each episode, I stayed sad, but also, in each episode I saw, I wanted
to whatch more. I don't know why, maybe it is kind of addicting.
The manga and the anime use a comom legend to desenvolve, and I always like when they do that.
The personalities of the characters where well developed and they even
tried to explain why they had that personality. In fact I think that in
this anime even the bad ones had a reason, a plausive one, to do what
they were doing. It as a lot of violence, deads but is also a very
loveable anime, with intense romance, people that love but aren't loved
back etc...
This anime also gives a enfase to the family. It is represented as a
very important part of our life, in god and bad times, and it tries to
explain us that wihtout a family, without people to love, we are alone
and imcomplete.
In more technical aways, the animation is quite good, especially the
boys, they are very well drawn, it's as a great color, not too vivid,
not to shalow and the initial song is good, not fantastic, but good.
I liked this anime because it gives us fictional fellings and we respond to them as if they were real.
In note, people that don't like dramas, really really musn't watch this anime.

Plot Summary:
Ceres
was a tennyo (Celestial maiden) who came down from the heavens to bathe
in a stream. She hung her hagoromo (robe) on a tree nearby, which was
her key to returning to the heavens. But the robe was stolen and the
man who had stolen it forced her to become his wife, thus producing a
family full of human and tennyo blood mixed. Now, in modern day time,
Aya Mikage is a descendent of Ceres, and has quite an ammount tennyo
blood. On her 16th birthday, she and her twin brother, Aki, are thrown
a party. At the "party", Aya's grandpa plans to kill her, for she has
tennyo powers unlike the rest of the family, and can actually become
Ceres herself and destroy the Mikage family. Aya, however, can switch
back, so
this transformation happens quite frequently. With protector
Yuuhi by her side, it is up to Aya to control Ceres and keep her from
coming back, but her relationship with an ex-worker for her evil
grandpa may be a distraction.
