How to create a Torrent using BitComet
Here is a quick guide on creating a torrent using BitComet. During this
post I will call the torrent files you make with BitComet RAW Torrents.
This is because they do not contain your unique PeerDen passkey.
Step 1: It is easiest to use just one "Downloads" folder and to
put all things you wish to make torrents of into it. This is also the
folder which new material will be downloaded into when you open other
torrents.
Bitcomet makes this folder by default as
C:\Downloads. You can check this is correct by clicking
Options> Task as shown below:-
Step 2: To create a new RAW torrent which you can upload to PeerDen first Click
File> Make or simply Click the
Make button. This will open up the screen shown below:-
Step 3: At this point there are a few things to do. First make
the torrent private. This is a requirement of the site and no torrents
will work here unless they are private. To do this under
Network Type select the third option:-
Only Accept Peers From Tracker. This is the highlighted option in the above screenshot.
Step 4: Next make sure you have the PeerDen tracker copied and pasted into the
Tracker Server List. You can see where to put it on the screenshot below
PeerDen tracker announce url is:-
Code:
http://tracker.peerden.com:2700/announce
or
http://www.peerden.com:2700/announce

Step 5: Now that the important stuff is out of the way you can make your RAW torrent file. Under
Source File select either Single File or Directory. You should select Single File if you are uploading a just one rar, a zipped folder or an avi etc. If you have a folder with many rar's or mp3's then select Directory. Now when you click OK the RAW torrent will be saved to the same folder as the material you are sharing. C:\Downloads
Step 6: Bitcomet is a pain. As soon as you make a new torrent
file it auto-starts it. This is not good because we are not ready for
that yet. So far I've been unable to find out how to stop it from doing
this
But a way to work around it is to simply delete the task.
Right-click on the torrent which has just been newly added to Bitcomet and select
Delete> Delete Task Only and then
Click OK in the confirmation box which should pop-up.
. . .
Step 7: Now log-on to PeerDen and select the part of the forum you think your torrent should be uploaded too. ie
Movies> DVD-Rip etc, or if you are new to uploading maybe the
Testing Section.
Make your post as normal, including as much info and details about your
torrent as you can. BUT, before completing your post scroll down the
page a little and click the button which say's
Manage Attachments
This is very important because this is the part where you upload the
RAW torrent file you made earlier. In the new window/tab that opens
click
Browse and then navigate to the
C:\Downloads folder and select the RAW torrent you made earlier. Then click
Upload. Now you can got back to your post and click
Submit New Thread.
Step 8: The final step is to now re-download the torrent file
from your ownpost. We need to do this because the RAW torrent you made
with BitComet does not have your PeerDeen passkey embedded in it. So
that you can actually seed your torrent you must re-download the
torrent file from your own post (it's only a couple of kb). This is the
torrent file that you should open in BitComet.
When you open it in Bitcomet you should get a pop-up saying
'A file with the same name already exists' at this point choose
Yes to the
Hash check it
offers. BitComet will then check through your files, once it reaches
100% you will automatically be seeding your torrent to the PeerDen
community.
You should see an arrow next to your torrent like so:-
NB. You won't upload anything until someone else starts to download
from you, so don't worry about that. But if you check the thread you
made you will be able to see that your torrent now has one seeder
