DIGITAL MILLENIUM COPRYRIGHT ACT:
There has been much, much talk regarding the DMCA. Many have found it proposterous. Other's simply will not recognize it... If you are reading this... LOL... you are one of those that choose to either disregard it, or who selectively choose to disregard it.
1. WTF is the DMCA???
2. How far should this go?
3. How Long will this Last
4. Is it going to REALLY make a difference?
5. What REAL repurcussions can come of it.
6. WTF do I care.
1 A: DMCA: "Digital Millenium Copyright Act" An Act passed by congress allowing artists, performers, their agencies and representatives to seek legal action against a person or institution that knowingly shares or distributes copyrighted material... (e.g. What we're doing right now... LMAO) Individually there can be very severe penalties and possible jailtime for "caught" repeat offenders.
BONUS: If the alleged "perpetration" occurred through a network owned by a University Campus, an online organization and such, the weight of the DMCA falls on that organization to repremand or discontinue services to the alleged "perpetrator" or repeat offender. Too many times we blame these online companies and Universities to "Yielding to the Man or the Powers to be".... Several incidences are increasingly showing the INCREASING snow-balling affect of the DMCA.... Agencies and Corporations utilizing this ACT recently to penalize Universities and Corporations for "knowingly harboring" or facilitating the offense. So Millions of Dollars are drained from those organizations (of course they're gonna think about their bottom dollor... pffft.. LOL) So along comes in the 3 strikes and you're out... (I love America... everything in 3 strikes and you're out... LOL) should atleast give you enough time to get things right... LOL. I'm not condoning this by the way...
---- REAL ANSWER: If you're going to pull this SHIT... (Good Shit, really) DON'T Do It At Work Or on a FEDERALLY LEAST LINE like at a University.... Simple, Don't Be Stupid.
2. A: It's already gone too far. And their seems to be no end in the near future. The DMCA appears at face-value, to have no challengees of this act... Guilds corporations and agencies... all have and require lots of dollars from these suits. It is WITHOUT CHECK AND BALANCE CURRENTLY. What's more... Foreign Countries (Rightly so... in compliance with the letter of the ACT) are also utilizing and infringing on this ACT. Recently several Countries, Most notabaly Japan, (I have Good Japanese Friends, No Offense to ANY JAPANESE... Just Litigators of Japan or any country) has officially made a statement to the U.S regarding the undermining of their main Industry (ANIME) and its continued distribution without check through the DMCA (Watch out that's next on the Watch-dog List). I publish on a different Organization, material that is either Public Domain or Fair Usage of Copyrighted material... Most notably Movie Trailers released for Promotion of The Motion Picture Association's Film. Because of the afore mentioned Government's concerns of its undermining of their creative arts (MOVIE TRAILERS THEY RELEASED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC) I was penalized for show-casing these Movie trailers... TOO FAR!! They Released it to the General Public... and It's where it is remaining, but then utilize OUR (U.S.) Laws to Benefit for themselves... at the sake of our National and Federal Acts, laws etc. exposing our soft spots and making them targets... TOO MUCH.
3. A: Who Knows. Time Will Tell. Usually when a Major Corporation with dollars pouring out of their pant pockets, socks and underwear are affected. Isn't that the way it usually works??
4. A: Who knows. A Few Torrent Sites do not Allow Americans into their sites. (Of course there are work-arounds)....
5. A: As I've said. Injury to our own National Status. Continued Taxation to this (USA) nations individuals as increasing agencies and especially foreign agencies and more important Foreign Nations utilize this to seek compensation. Will it Stop Torrents?.... Did the 18th ammendment REALLY stop drinking??? Thus the 21st Ammendment... Didn't work. Always an underground. The more illegal, the more cut-throat.
6. A: WHY THE FUCK DO I CARE: Most people here are 16-21 or so... and likely.... NOT reading this Blog, or any BLOG that doesn't Begin with, "HOT-TITS IN THE CITY"... LOL....
P2P Networks were created for a purpose... a legitimate purpose (not saying that torrents isn't... LMAO) but the closing of P2P Networks (Absolutely necessary in Education, Research, Experimentation of Hybrid Networks and Encrypted Information between Official Agencies) will ONLY tend to Destroy This Nations Ability to advance in technology, industry, economy military function... Has The DMCA gone too FAR??? Not Only that... they wanna go further and eliminate the very thing that MAKES the Back-Bone of What makes the U.S. the Largest Nation. The P2P Networks MUST NOT BE DESTROYED!!! Microsoft, XBOX, SYMANTEC and a lot of these major corporations, rely on P2P Networks to distribute updates and patches.... Perhaps... After-all... We'll be seeing BIG-DOLLARS fighting for the right of P2P Networks... Lets Keep that Huge Bandwidth of P2P Network Active, Alive and free from falling DOWN through Legislative Acts that GO Unchecked with NO Balances!!!
Thank You If you have Read this...
