Simplicity Vs Capacity

After few posts on Politics. Let's discuss something more close to us and coincidentally something just striked through my head. Does living luxurily means that you are financially stable and have great potential?

If we look at the structure of the current urban society, everything is about presentation. Mooncake's boxes, dining places, shopping mall, watches, handphone, etc, all of them have to be presentable and what lay man would say as " Beautiful". Why?

Most of the working subgroups are chasing for this luxury and most of the large-scale company earns big money from this luxury chasing game. For example, StarBucks, LV bags, Iphone, Padini, SEED, Giordano etc. They all earn huge part of their money by knowing most of the people will "chase" this luxury. Do you think most of the working class professionals are well off? The answer is simply a big NO. Because they are"chasing" this luxury. (Let us exclude those born billionaires and those fortunate to strike lottery). And for the sake of that, their account might not have lots of money because of this chasing game.

Author of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad", called this a RAT RACE.  You work for the sake of your chasing, and as you crawl higher up the ladder, your chasing gets bigger and so goes the rat race. A big vicious cycle goes on and on with no end. So how do we end this vicious cycle? I think a 6 year old can tell you the answer. "Stop the chasing la".

I can't tell you all more as I am still too young to exmeplify. Will probably update when i gets older :)

Here comes the second part, how do we stop the chasing? It comes with practice and determination. Now, Simplicity comes in. You can not be wanting luxury and tell people that your lifestyle is simple. It doesn't work this way. It is a practice! Some people will then ask, why those poor people, their financial status are so poor, they can't afford anything more than rice, not luxury at all....:(   For sure, that is not the only factor, there are other factors like how much they earn, how many children they have, the condusiveness in the environment  for them to propel financially, their determination to propel financially, their knowledge(financial knowledge and basic knowledge). I mean you cannot expect a cleaner who earns RM300 a month with 3 children, who has been living in simplicity to prosper financially.

In conclusion, simplicity is relatively proportional to capacity(Financially) with other factors interplaying.

we all live in the society with it morale and rules. We can opose it, but it will be as hard as swimming an to a fast river against the flow. Another way is to use some rules, but not to make from it a greatest priority. Just use as minimal luxuri as neccessar, but don't try to be the first in this. People, of course, meet us by our appearence, but later look at our capacities....

If you want to change the world, start by changing yourself

Dear Svetlana, Thanks for your comment. I do agree that it is as hard as swimming against a fast river. Actually, I wanted to post another post today on "To be Rich, Live Rich". Yes, people judge us by appearance and the way we live hence we have to be neat and presentable to the society but that doesn't need to be very luxurious. . Just like 2 pants which are equally nice, one found in "factory outlet shop" and another found in DKNY store. I am sure the price is 2-3 times the difference. But I am also sure 80% of the working professionals would want to buy the DKNY one. So here is what I meant by "Simplicity". On ya.. I like the statement with you, "If you want to change the world, change yourself" 101% agree...

Nice blog too many people live beyond their means to keep up appearances especially here in the West. For some reason we became a must have society. My self I don't own a car even though public transport is horrendous and I use the 3 month rule If I'm not going to need it or wear it in the next 3 months I don't really need it after all. But until people once more learn to see below the superficial level to the real person I don't see much hope for change and that gloomy note I'll leave it. My best wishes to you and yours. have a great weekend

It ain't what you do it's the way that you do it

Itzanadam, thanks for your participation, I don't think it is only a problem in the west, basically it is a phenomenon seen everywhere in major cities and that's how mega companies earn money and to our surprise, most bosses of the mega companies live simple lives.

Haha! Ya, you got a very good rule (the 3 month rule). My father always say: You need it then you buy, you want it then you DON'T buy, but how many of use can beat the desires and outrun the "rat race". I think it would be less than 10% of the population.
