My Talk

Hi FendyBT2 and his readers...

I'm trying to keep an up-to-date list if BitComet addresses to put in PeerGuardian2 as an "Allow" list. You're free to configure PeerGuardian2 to download it. It won't ever be large so bandwidth is not a concern to me.

1. Click on List Manager

2. Click on Add

3. In Description, write "BitComet Allow PG2 Listing"

4. IMPORTANT: Click "Allow" in the Type box

5. In Add URL: http://funchords.com/peerguardian/bitcomet_allow_pg2_listing.txt

6. Click OK

7. Close the List Manager using the X in the upper-right corner

8. PeerGuardian will take it from there

Good looking issue, XSTREM! Keep up the great work!

BitComet - Torrent Share Thu Jan 24, 08 12:33 AM

Make Torrents for each one, mark them shared as shown above, and upload the torrents to popular, public sites. Seed them well so there is a healthy swarm going. That way, when someone does get the torrent from you, there will likely be a good swarm to join.

Tracker Listing/Download Speed Thu Jan 24, 08 12:17 AM

This is not a great idea.

It will slow down how quickly you connect to your first peers because you will be spending your first several seconds (or minutes, if the list is long) marching through the list of trackers.

If the swarm is truly a multi-tracker swarm, then all of the trackers are going to list all of the same peers, anyway. There is little point in querying them all.

WHAT YOU CAN DO is ENABLE DHT in Options, Advanced, Connection. Log in to MemberZone. And open Properties for each download, and make sure that the options to find peers via all the various methods listed there are enabled. Make sure that you are connectable (Green Light).

Since it has practically nothing to do with speed, and since the BitComet Support Staff are unanimously and actively suggesting that users NOT patch their system, you might delete that entire section.

If you're not keen to that idea, could you be talked into turning that section into a separate guide just for the Half-Open patch and hosting it on a different page? You could add a bit about the pros and cons and why this subject is controversial.

Score & Ranking or Level Wed Jan 23, 08 04:01 PM

There is essentially the same data at http://blog.bitcomet.com/post/355/ but I like your presentation better.

The following is from that page:

Max Resources

Max Resources mean the number of connections to P2SP. The more connections to P2SP BitComet gets, the faster downloading could be. The number of connections here doesn't equal to the connections normally launched by BitComet. It only relates to newly designed P2SP system. We are speeding up the one who is willing to upload by involving this.

Hello, nice guide!

download limit to get the MAX limit... You can set your 'TCP/IP Limit' - 'New Half-Open Limit' to '200' and tick/select the 'Disable the system file protections' radio button... (you have to restart your PC for this)

I would delete that recommendation. It has nothing to do with the green light, and Microsoft's January 2008 Security Updates have modified TCPIP.SYS in such a way that BitComet cannot patch it right now.

But, great guide still the same!
