To me, marriage itself is a faith-based matter. Any old secular civil union is called marriage nowadays, and barring gays from that is closing the barn doors with the wolf already in. I say let 'em have it.
That said, I've yet to meet a gay person I'd trust with raising a kid. Of course 95% of straight people are just as incapable in my view, so I'm a bit of a harsh judge, but kids need role models of both genders and they won't necessarily get that in a gay household.

Seriously though, women want to be the most important thing in their man's life, and the less he has going for him the less competition there is for his attention in her eyes. This is absolutely wrong, but women believe it on some instinctive level regardless. Don't ask me why. I'm a guy with absolutely nothing going for me who STILL doesn't get the chicks, but that's because I call women on their bullshit like I just did there, and that puts me in the "alone for life" category. Might also have something to do with my total inability to ask a girl out. Sucks for me eh?
