What makes you think I didn't attempt other resolutions?

If you need help at all, I'd be more than happy to oblige, if I can.

None taken, but grandmothers, eggs and a certain amount of sucking spring to mind. I'm an IT Computer Network specialist.

Morale behind this is that sometimes even the most careful and knowledgeable can fall foul.

I believe it was installing Google Chrome that shafted my Vista PC, and a hardware glitch - probably the hard drive - has shafted the other. It is probably just coincidence that they happened at approximately the same time.

I'd need to see a manual, as these things sometimes have different names.

However, in general terms, if you don't know/have changed the access password and forgotten it, you can reset your router back to it's defaults and set it up again.

Doing that normally involves turning off the router and holding down the recessed reset pin while you turn it on. Keep the pin depressed for 30 seconds.

I've been reliably informed that if you haven't changed the username/password (or you have just set it back to the factory defaults) you can access the menus by using the factory default username "administrator" and leaving the password box empty.

Warning: You will need to know your adsl username and password, as provided by your ISP if you plan to do this, as that will be deleted too.

Share Ratios - How do they work? Fri Sep 19, 08 07:44 AM

Royhard,

Thanks for your response, it is appreciated that you took time out to reply.

But it doesn't really answer the questions I have asked.

I don't seem to be able to work out what the automatic relationship is between uploading and downloading.

Does my upload history on file A actually count when applied to new download file B? Or does File B's share ratio only affect the download of file B, with completed file A's share ratio completely ignored?

Thanks again.

My question is a little more fundamental.

Where do my posts go when I submit them (presumably) to the TopComet forum? I can see them in my blog homepage, but nowhere else.

If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful.

Seems no body wants to talk to us on this subject. I can't even find my posts on the forum anywhere. Only in my home page. But some people have read it, so it must be somewhere.

There is a limit in the amount of memory Vista & XP 32Bit can actually access. It's around 3.5GG.

I'm not sure if it makes a difference if you have 4 x 1GB memory and enable dual channel. But in essence, unless you have specially developed programs such as professional animation rendering software.

I doubt BitComet comes into that category.
