So, I have come to the conclusion that no body on here knows the answers to any logical questions because no one ever answers them. I've read a lot of blogs and forums like this and I notice question after question by new members curios of the "ranking" or asking for help when trying to understand the bazaar language used to describe functions of the programs, and they are NEVER replied to! After a question I'll see post after post stating how great something is, that they understand and other people don't.
I also think a lot of Bit Comet is just one big conspiracy to become the most popular p2p network. The resource numbers starting at the lowest rank begin at 41, over 2 years go by and the number reaches 56! I bet that the difference is unnoticeable. They just put the ranking on to have people obsess over this goal so they can post more ads and collect more info and ultimately become a rich computer network that has fooled us all!
My advice to anyone new on here, who doesn't want to read the forums because all they'll see if clusters of information that will contradict it self and end up confusing you, just play around, try things out, see what works and what doesn't. I still don't understand some things,like the health percentage that grows to high numbers such as 3495% healthy (whatever that means), or what a leech is or a peer is, or if peer and seed are the same things, or if having only one of them and none of the rest is bed but having all 3 seems to work, basically I act like I know what I'm doing and it's working. The end! :)
hi. i'm confused about the uploading thing. I downloaded movies, and then it will say that it's finished, and that it's uploading. why does this take so much longer? Also, my bit comet is having trouble maintaining it's connection to the server. It says that I'm always signed it, but sometimes the download or the upload will slow right down, or will say that it's connecting, and so to find out for myself if there is a connection to the server, i go to help, and then to check for updates, the box will pop up saying that it's checking for updates, and then a different one will replace that box and tell me that it failed to connect to the server. How do I fix this??
My other question is, my status lights. The computer that i use bit comet on, is a laptop which is connected through WiFi to the computer up stairs (which is high speed). I have one status light that is green and says "DHT Connected" and then beside it, there is a second status light that is yellow, and says "Blocked: (IP Address)" beside it. When i run my pointer over the blocked light, it says that my listen port is blocked. I tried looking through Trend Micro Security for the blocked port, but nothing comes up as being blocked. I also tried the steps listed in the FAQ on this site, by going in to my windows firewall, and it's all done correctly. How do I unblock the listening port? Thanks.
