I've been burned by too many people in the past who I thought were my friends so.....
In an ideal world I would say a friend is someone you can talk to about practically any and everything without having to worry about judgement or censure. You can have disagreements, have differences in opinions and still respect each other. True friends don't belittle you but support you. Trust is such an important part of friendship that once it's gone it's not easily repaired. Again, this is an idealistic view of what a friend is.
Despite being f'd over by people in the past, I lucked out and found that my best friend is my husband ( I know, sounds mushy,but it's the truth!).
