I'll post the link as soon as its online...

Then as soon as its running smoothly, we will redirect this url to the new forum. This will give all the staff time to learn how to use the new forum

I think that I'll wait for your announcements first (I'm absolutely swamped with work, right now).

Can you just make sure that we (Staff) see them before they're posted, please (that way, they'll all appear at the same time)? Ditto, for the info in the siggy.

Thanks

I'll make sure all staff gets their names.

We should have a week or two with both forums online, so we can learn how the new one functions before members start making posts. Then after we are prepared, the current url will redirect to the new forum.

We might have minor issues like posts made after the databases is moved, but before the new forum is open, so I'll make global announcements about it when that time comes, plus we should all put that info in our sig.

Hopefully that time period will be small.

Yes, the staff should get knowledge first so we can register with the same names.

I think we'd better make the announcement after the new forums servers have been ready to work. I will make a post if there is any news.

Yes, every member will have to register again. They will be able to use their current name as long as no one has taken it as of the date they register.

We will be making a public announcement soon, but the most important announcement will be at the new forum, where members will be advised to reregister.

I will work on both announcements, one for here, one for there... well, your welcome to write them if you like Cassie

Either way, we will then need them translated into Spanish and French...

Hi Aimee,

When you say that all members will have to register with a new account, will we be making any sort of official announcement to that effect? (Wolfloner and I will have to make one in French and Spanish, as well.)

Will members be allowed to use the same user's name as before, or will they have to choose a different one (I'm sure that someone will, undoubtedly, ask this, somewhere along the line...)?
A "Pause Download" Button Thu May 29, 08 09:23 AM

Oops, I meant "stop download", I just didn't want to make it sound indefinate.

All i was suggesting was a button that will stop downloading a specific task but keep uploading.

Clients can't implement features that aren't provided for in the protocol, and pausing isn't provided for.

Some clients do have a "pause" feature that's nothing more than just ceasing to respond for as long as the "pause" thing is active. Meantime, other peers continue to send messages that just get ignored. Eventually, if it goes on long enough, the tracker notices you haven't scraped in a while, figures you must have gone offline, and removes you from the peer list. When you "unpause", in this case, you have to start again -- scrape the tracker, let it know you want to be included in the peer list, get the current list, contact some of them (they've all long since given up on you) and start trading again. So this "pause" button has no real function, and handles things much more clumsily than simply stopping.

My best guess is that you've posted in the wrong forum.

I don't know what you mean by "stars on the screen". It's most likely a filter issue, but I don't know what you mean.

BitComet does not store a download history in any way.

It's well to remember that 0.71 was a complete code rewrite. No release since 0.70 has been quite as stable. It seems a shame to go through thirty releases without ever getting to a stable one, but you need to be careful about any upgrade and prepared to revert back if it turns out not to work right on your system. Stirring the release of Vista into this mix didn't help any.

Non of us use that thing because it's always being updated. In the newer versions it auto updates all the time. So even though you can edit in folders and sites you want it will just get erased. So we just use our browsers.

i understand what both of you are saying. kluelos i see what you are saying about nothing being selected but even when it is selected nothing shows up all i did was just bring up bitcomet to take a screenshot to better explain my problem. cassie i have tried multiple versions of bitcomet and they have worked previously. just recently when i went to reinstall i have been having this problem. i switched to utorrent because i was not satisfied with bitcomet and the listening port issue but i fixed that. now when i went to switch back to bitcomet i am having this problem. i know about the file locations. and i have even tried manually starting the file torrent and it starts i am just never able to see the file or the progress or anything about it. thank you both for your responses i hope that someone will be able to assist me further.

Also, please note that the download location (by default) in BitComet v. 0.70 is C:\\Program Files\BitComet\Downloads , while in version 0.96 it is C:\\Downloads (if I'm not mistaken)...

If you look carefully at your screenshot, you'll notice that you have not selected anything off of the left tree to view.
