oh yeah...im having the same trouble today with bitcomet signing in.

it has happened before. either the site is down or overloaded. shut it down for a few hours and it will work soon.

maybe in the morning.

as i said, its happened to me before. its like any other webpage that is getting maintanence or getting overloaded or whatever.

it will work eventually.

dont sweat it heman!

open a port thru your windows vista, or xp, security settings and use that port for your bitcomet port. like, 55555 or something. somwhere between 42000 and 60000. those are the ports that bitcomet workes between.

then you need to go to your router page and create a bitcomet port there as well. go to portforward.com and get a link to your router, and directions on how to do this.

as for downloading james bond, go to mininova or thepiratebay and you can find just about anything you want.

yeah, make sure "favorite" is checked...that opens that lower, and side panel that has your rankings in it.

go up to your taskbar and toolbar settings on the bitcomet thing, and find out which one opens that particular view.

boy..thats the million dollar question around here.

im gonna give you an address to go look at a post.

this post is how i got my greenlight and an open speedy port.

read all of the posts, because i think the guy that was responding to these directions on how to open a port, is right, regarding the "global ports".

just read it all and you should be able to figure it out.

even tho these directions are for verizondsl and a particular wireless modem, its pretty much the same for forwarding any port.

and, there are instructions somewhere right here at bitcomet.com on how to do this.

once you figure it out its not that hard, but its a bit of a pain getting it going for the first time.

oh yeah....after reading someone elses post on this same subject, it does seem to me that my download speeds have dropped with version 1.10.

anyone else having this issue?

my ports are open, got a green light all the time, but i cant seem to top about 80kB's, whereas I was getting a consistant 220kB's on an decently seeded torrent.

is it the new version or what?

(i use bitcomet forum and blog so infrequently, im not sure where this is gonna get posted, or how im gonna get back to it, or if im gonna be notified if anyone replies?? any one want to help me with this problem can respond!?)

everyone who wants to know how to make your downloads faster. your downloads are only gonna go fast if

1. you forward a port number. pick a port number between 50000 and 70000, and learn how to port forward in the bitcomet forums, or google it and find instructions.

and

2. your download (and upload) speed will always be determined by your internet providers connection speed. if you have a 1 mb connection, your not gonna get over 200kB's. If you pay for the highest speed, maybe a 3 mb connection, you will get higher speeds...500+. call your provider, they can help you.

there is no secret checkmark or numbers, in your options, that can truly help you get a faster download speed. there are some that will slow you down, so read the bitcomet pages on what the settings should be.

[take a checkmark out of the PnP mapping box in your options. that slows you down}.

so to recap, your dl speed is dependent on your service providers speed of upload/download ratio.

and you really must portforward a port to use, to open your dl potential.

am i wrong? is this too simplistic? you techies, let me know.

im running the bitcomet 1.04, but cannot get the emule, or edonkey plugin to show that its up to date in my options. it says to click the download link to update.

but ive updated both the setup, and the plugin.

and still i cannot get emule to load with my bitcomet program.

whats up with that??

should i go to another link and download the plugin there?

(man, who are these people downloading at 300 plus kbs??? i dont believe it. i get 100 if im lucky. these guys are bshting, i would be anything. either that or theyve got cable connections..highspeed cable.)

i got my third light, that was yellow, to turn green with a WAN setting, by going to that portforward.com addy listed in a post above, and forwarding my ports, starting at 46000, to 60000, (i read somewhere in the bitcomet help pages that bitcomets ports begin at 45??? something, and end at 60??? something, so i just used some in between ports.

anyway i set up the ports, forwarded them, and my yellow light turned green. my url or isp or whatever it is, opened up and is now downloading.

its downloading damn slow, but its opened up now.

i have no idea how to speed this thing up.
