Today is The National Holiday of Spain or Hispanic Day, is the national day of Spain. It is held annually on October 12 and is a national holiday which commemorates the exact date of 1492 when Christopher Columbus first set a foot in the Americas.
The discovery of America was momentous for the country embarking on a projection period culturally in America. All this happened at a time where he was completing the process of building the state today, with the integration of the various peninsular kingdoms into a single kingdom.
