When you´ve been listening to metal music for many years, the times when a band blows your mind become more rare and distant. Although there´s a considerably big universe of bands playing all kinds of metal music, the number of bands making music with a new twist, that "x" factor that grasps your attention by the balls and won´t let go, is minimal.
One of those few bands goes by the name "The Project Hate MCMXCIX". Their approach towards metal music can be accurately described as eclectic, not the all over the place kind as "Diablo Swing Orchestra" or "Stolen Babies" but a less chaotic breed focused on four genres. The core of the music is clearly death metal, but they throw to the mix not little amounts of symphonic elements (clear female voice, prominent synths), electronics and some progressive elements here and there just to keep things interesting (spoken passages, tempo changes, weird background effects, etc).
Nothing to complaint about in the instrumental department, all instruments audible and played with professionalism. The lyrics are one dimensional and they are pretty much centered on anally raped and dismembered angels, whores and hatred for the holy. They make very clear they hate christianity, but i can tell you i haven´t heard blasphemy sounding this good in quite some time.
Although the lyrics are not interesting, they are the last thing you´ll be paying attention to. "The Project Hate" is an entertaining listen, with long, dynamic songs that will make you believe in metal music evolution once more...
