I don´t know if you´ve noticed that the metal escene is getting crowded with a lot of bands playing the same old boring shit over and over again, with lack of imagination and talent.
Well, I want to introduce to you all a metal band from Ireland form by talented musicians doing their own thing despite the awful amount of commercial shit around and, in my humble opinion, they gave the world the best metal album of 2007. They´re Era Vulgaris and the jewel that they´d lay upon us is called "What Stirs Within".
Era Vulgaris plays a mixture of metal subgenres that goes from progressive metal, to death metal and touches of heavy metal and hard rock. You may be thinking "that´s an odd combination" but the result will surely blow your fucking head off.
The guitar work is just amazing: catchy riffs full of melody and agressiveness will stick in your brain like a stupid blond to a millionaire´s dick, plus a lot of killer solos full of technicality. Then there´s the vocal department, with a typical death metal growl as a basis mix with clean choruses that you´ll sing all day long, guarantee!!
The drum work is more on the heavy metal/hard rock side, giving the impression that you´re listening to an 80´s album.
The production is crystal clear, with all the instruments audible and in good shape. It´s been long years waiting for an album with such energy and profesionalism, an album that I want to play over and over again, always discovering new things in every spin.
I can not stop praising this album!! Bottom line: This is compelling stuff. Full of power, originality and talent. If you haven´t listen to it, please take your head out your butt and get it right away. You won´t regret it!
