Doom death is not an easy to listen subgenre of metal, in fact, some people think that it is an acquire taste like coffee, alcohol and prostitutes. That statement may be correct but the fact is that i like doom death metal. It is the subgenre i listen to the most and i love the calm, sadness and despair it makes me feel. It´s beautiful.
I´d like to direct your attention to another great band from Ireland named Mourning Beloveth and their four studio albums: "Dust", "The Sullen Sulcus", "A Murderous Circus" and "A Disease For The Ages"
It´s incredible how these guys manage to create truly emotional music just by using the basics: deep inspire growls, clean melodic vocals, low tuned guitars, bass and simple but effective drumming. No keyboards or violins a la My Dying Bride here, just pure inspiration.
I think that the key of this band is the great vocals. You can find a wide variety in this department: deep growls full of despair and anguish, talked passages, emotive and beautiful clean male vocals, whispers, etc., to a great effect.
The guitars are low tuned, slow and full of melodies to remember, and they carry a great deal of the band success as well. The other instruments serve as backup of the melodic discharge of the vocals and guitars.
At the end you have doom/death metal at its best. Few bands stand at the same level than these irish monsters. All the albums are equally well written, diverse, and most important, interesting. Although you will listen to some depressive stuff, you will not feel tired and bored, no way!!! This music will take you to an incredible ride through doom, anguish, love and beauty.
Highly recommended!

Song: "The Mountains Are Mine" from "Dust"
I have tasted it many nights upon my tongue the
foreboding that worse lay in the dregs as I await some Stroke
Of Doom From a corner of this weeping earth ,my
thoughts unfold onto this world and leave me cowering for
Refuge from torment and pain In silence I weep
for lost memories so deep that I have torn all ties with the
Physical So let me build a wooden bridge to the
moon and I will rip the heavens apart with my thoughts and my
Anguish
Linger in forgotten mountains all alone Cold
beneath the moon Seek me and you'll find me Licking dirt from the
Ground
Mountains are mine Fountains of fine wine Never
will you find For they are buried in my mind In silence I weep
My loneliness so deep For they are buried in
time Realised in your mind
Overwhelming anguish seeps through these veins
turning my blood to ice, never to flow again Under innumerable
Stars in vivid brightness my mind was naked for
all to pick Now free to roam across the jagged pieces (of
Heaven),wrapping myself round pieces (of
heaven) Thoughts start to creep around my heart in vivid brightness,in
Vivid darkness
The cold night draws in and the children are
skulking With fear of reprisal, but the Mountains are Mine
