Female fronted metal bands are an every day thing. Extreme female vocalists are not. I want to introduce a woman to you all who will make you think twice before calling women "the weak gender". She is Angela Gossow from the melodic death metal band Arch Enemy (if you don't know who they are, well, there's not much I can do for you except to tell you that Arch Enemy is a worldwide acclaim metal force and you should get their albums as soon as you can)
She was born in Cologne, Germany on the 5th of November, 1974. After being part of two previous metal bands back in 1991 and 1998 (Asmodia and Mistress) she joined Arch Enemy as main vocalist in 2001. The band had already released three albums (Black Earth, Stigmata and Burning Bridges) with Johan Liiva as vocalist, but it was not until Angela's inclusion and the awesome 2001´s "Wages of Sin" that the band's career and popularity took off beyond the skies till today.
Since her debut, she received excellent reviews as an extreme vocalist and metal fans all around just love her. Her vocals skills are impressive as it is the technique she uses to prevent losing her voice despite the high demanding tours. She has created a unique vocal style raging from low growls to ball breaking screams full of aggression and energy.
With Angela as a leader Arch Enemy has released four albums: "Wages Of Sin" (2001), "Anthems Of Rebellion" (2003), "Doomsday Machine" (2005) and "Rise Of The Tyrant" (2007), all of very high quality and they don't show any sign of stopping, as their popularity just grows bigger and bigger every day.
She is an outstanding vocalist and a pride for the female gender.
