In transcendental music, there is a rare breed of bands that create music not just to be heard and enjoyed but to be felt; music that becomes an insightful experience for the listener, a journey to the depths of human emotions. Following the duality of stillness and chaos, emerges a great band from Japan called Mono. Their introspective music is based in calm, near silence passages that with each passing second grows in a sea of multilayer notes and sound effects until a storm of raging chaos leaves the listener breathless just to be brought back to peace minutes later.
Easily one of the best releases of 2006, "You Are There" is an all instrumental work of art in the post-rock field. A sixty minutes long trip to mindscapes and emotions, the album is structured with fantastic long songs and beautiful still interludes. Almost atmospheric in its approach, Mono´s music has a sense of contemplative darkness and coldness; it speaks of true feelings of barren souls and lonely hearts. It is poetic and touching music that will surely please any thoughtful listener. Music to be felt and lived...
Song: "Moonlight"
Note: It is a long song, so be patient...you´ll not regret it.
