Warmen is the side project of Children of Bodom's keyboardist Janne Viljami Wirman along with his brother Antti Wirman on the guitars.
They accompany themselves with really good musicians to create a style of music that is mainly instrumental. The albums consist of a balance between all instrumental songs and the ones with lyrics featuring guest vocalists as Timo Kotipelto (ex-Stratovarious), Alexi Lahio (Children of Bodom) and Kimberly Goss (Sinergy).
Clearly, Janne Wirman is the star of the show. He displays an impressive range of keyboard playing abilities that leave no room for doubt concerning his musical talent. This is music composed and played for fun, hence, the main focus is in showing the musicians outstanding skills. One can hear lots of lightning speed soloing perform with the guitar, keyboards and even the bass, plus solid drumming and top notch vocals. The field chosen as playground is melodic power metal, so comparisons could be established with bands such as Sinergy, Stratovarious and Sonata Arctica (all examples of Finland's power metal school, which has its own characteristic features).
Recommended to any person who wants to experience how far talent can go, Warmen is a fine example of why Finland is considered one of the biggest producers of high quality metal music...
