Doom/Death Metal Elite: Novembers Doom

Band: Novembers Doom

Genre: Doom/Death Metal

Discography: "Amid Its Hallowed Mirth" (1995), "Of Sculptured Ivy and Stone Flowers" (1999), "The Knowing" (2000), "To Welcome the Fade" (2002), "The Pale Haunt Departure" (2005), "The Novella Reservoir" (2007)

Novembers Doom belongs in the elite of doom/death metal bands along with the legendary My Dying Bride and the extraordinary Mourning Beloveth.

When listening to Novembers Doom, the first thing that comes to mind is the dynamics of the songs. Ranging from slow tempo to fast blasting tempo, the songs are never boring. On the instruments, the evident quality of the drummer and his relentless double bass playing is the perfect base ground to construct a truly amazing style with hardly distorted rhythm guitar and excellent growling on the heavy parts plus clean guitar arpeggios and deep clean vocals on the slow interludes or songs (one of their songs was included in my metal ballads list: see http://blog.bitcomet.com/monti84metal/post_20216/)

Novembers Doom brings a fresh bliss of originality and top notch musicianship with every new release. Their discography is perfect, so you can buy blindly any of their records and I guarantee you won´t be disappointed...

Song: "Drown The Inland Mere" from "The Novella Reservoir"

A gray line divides where the shadows blur
There is nothing left within your empty smile
Nothing will change, the tide will still rise

Hold me under water
Drown the inland mere

Into this darkness I forever hold my loss
Only a moments time to scream my name

A shell of what I was, I'll never let you go
After all you said in vein, a weaker soul am I
This is my final struggle, this is my dying day

Hold me under water
Drown the inland mere

Into this darkness I forever hold my loss
Only a moments time to scream my name

No brother to man who rapes his own
A cell to rot the fabric of flesh
Why are you still smiling?
It's pity I feel for the life that's yours

The haunting voice of liberated souls
The death knell proudly chimes
Nothing but slaves in the unwilling fall

Hold me under water
Drown the inland mere

Into this darkness I forever hold my loss
Only a moments time to scream my name

Sorry, maybe it's just not the right time .. but I do not really like this a.t.m. (might be diffrent on another day, but now it's 0:38 over here, so I'm listening to more quiet music like Within Temptation) b.t.w. your server lags when playing the song... Voted anyway just because I like your blog.

My son drums and he would absolutly love this. As he says "double base rocks".

It's his kind of music too (not mine really but I appreciate good musicians no matter the genre). I will lwt him know about it!!
