If you are one of those movie viewers who love product tie-ins for items you can never possibly afford, have we got a film for you. British car company Aston Martin announced that British super agent James Bond will drive their car, the DBS, in his next adventure. The car was first seen in Casino Royale when Bond swerved to avoid driving over Vesper Lynd and ended up rolling it about 10 times. Hopefully he will have a new car and is not being asked to drive that one, as it is pretty smashed up.
Aston Martin CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez is surprisingly excited that his product will be seen by millions of people all over the world. He said, “Aston Martin is proud of our long association with James Bond. The DBS has its own unique character which equals that of James Bond. It is explosive power in a black tie. It is the perfect car for James Bond as it delivers the complete driving experience and bridges the gap between our road and track cars.” How lucky it is that the perfect car for James Bond and James Bond himself found each other at such a time. The world really is a remarkable place.
The next Bond movie, called Bond 22 for now (The Bond Identity?, The Bond Ultimatum?) is due out in November 2008. Other than being directed by Marc Foster, starring Craig, and featuring more Bond running around like a gazelle beating the shit out of people, not much is known of the movie. Now, at least, we know what he will drive. If we could find out what super expensive watch he will wear, I’ll die a happy man.
