Though he’s not nearly as prominent in the public eye as he was during his epic stint on Saturday Night Live, Tim Meadows has been the best part of some of the best comedies of the last few years. Remember his role as the principal in Mean Girls, wearing a cast because of carpal tunnel and afraid of Regina George? Or the bandmate in Walk Hard who kept warning Dewey Cox not to take drugs while simultaneously extolling their virtues? He’s a funny guy, and thankfully casting directors are recognizing it too.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Meadows is joining the cast of It Came From Upstairs, an adventure comedy starring High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale. Meadows will play a local sheriff caught in the middle of an alien invasion that, you guessed it, is coming from upstairs in a house. Do I even have to tell you that wacky hijinks will ensue?
Before you go saying that making a movie with a High School Musical star is beneath Meadows, remember that he made a movie with Lindsay Lohan, and it was amazing. I’m just glad to see that Meadows is still out there, outliving the Ladies Man and SNL in general and becoming a nice small part of enjoyable movies. Hopefully this one will continue the trend.
