Superhero Movie Gets More Characters The trailer may have been released for David Zucker’s Superhero Movie spoof of comic book movies, but apparently the movie isn’t completely done yet. That’s actually better news that it sounds like, because with the news of reshoots comes the news that the movie may not be solely a parody of Spider-Man, which is what the trailer makes the movie look like.

For those who haven’t seen the trailer, it’s almost shot for shot like Spider-Man, only with a parody-style twist. For instance, when the movie’s hero, “The Dragonfly,” hangs upside down from above to kiss his love interest, his rope (or whatever he’s hanging from) suddenly gives so he’s a little lower than most people go for on the first kiss. It seems a little strange to spoof Spider-Man at this point, six years (and two sequels) after the movie came out, but it looks like Superhero Movie is taking aim at a few other franchises, and some celebrities while it’s at it.

According to Moviehole, Superhero Movie is headed for some reshoots, despite a late March release date. They’ve gotten hold of a list of characters who are being cast, with auditions being this week. These characters extend the movie beyond Spider-Man and into the territory of X-Men, Fantastic Four, and High School Musical. It’s kind of hard to believe the first two weren’t already subjects of ridicule for the movie, but apparently not. Here’s what’s being auditioned for:

Mr Fantastic (aka Stretchy Arm Boy) : A student at Professor "Xavier's School For The Non-Asian Gifted.” He uses his super stretchy arm to stick his iPhone up a fellow student's skirt and take a picture

Miss Fantastic (aka Stretchy Arm Girl) : A student at Professor "Xavier's School For The Non-Asian Gifted.” She uses her super-stretchy legs to kick Mr. Fantastic in the nuts after he takes a picture under her skirt.

Amy Winehouse: An Extremely skinny, pale lass. Full lips and prominent teeth are a plus. Apparently she’ll appear in a spoof of TMZ

Zac Efron: The youngster must be able to sing and dance for a High School Musical scene.

Ashley Tisdale: Again, for the “High School Musical” scene.

Wolverine: A student at Professor "Xavier's School For The Non-Asian Gifted.” Wolverine is a teenage heart throb that can fight like a wild animal. When his superpowers take over, metal claws emerge from the tips of his fingers, and his body becomes invincible. While playing basketball at school, young Wolverine realizes that his metal claws can also be a bit of a bummer.

The Human Torch: While perched atop a skyscraper, The Human Torch finds that another young Superhero, The Dragonfly, is invading his personal space. While trying to educate young Dragonfly about his identity as The Human Torch, he realizes that it actually does hurt to be on fire, and asks The Dragonfly to put him out. The Human Torch meets a tragic end and rolls off the top of the skyscraper, never to be seen again.

The superhero character parodies sound funny enough, particularly the Human Torch, but the addition of High School Musical is stepping out of the movie’s focus. Why can’t these parody movies stick to their intended subject material instead of stretching out to attack as much pop-culture as they can? The real Amy Winehouse is annoying enough – why make her a part of this movie?
