HOLLYWOOD - Jim Carrey is set to star in comedy Pierre Pierre, a politically incorrect story about a self-indulgent French nihilist who moves a stolen painting from Paris to London. Jason Reitman is attached to direct, according to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.
The script, by Edwin Cannistraci and Frederick Seton, was acquired by Fox Atomic for $1 million after a heated bidding war that came down to Universal, Mandate and Atomic, says Variety. The film’s budget is set at $13 million.
Escape Artists and Reitman's banner Hard C are producing the film.
Carrey will next be heard as Horton in this month's Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! and star in Yes Man with Zooey Deschanel, Danny Masterson and Terence Stamp. He is also filming A Christmas Carol, directed by Robert Zemeckis.
Oscar-nominated Juno director Reitman will next produce the cheerleader-from-hell comedy-thriller Jennifer's Body for Fox Atomic, which Karen Kusama is directing from a Diablo Cody script.
