HOLLYWOOD - Patrick Swayze has been ordered by his doctors to quit smoking or risk losing his battle against pancreatic cancer.

Reports that the Dirty Dancing star was suffering from the disease surfaced on Wednesday and were later confirmed by his publicist.

But the actor, who is reported to have been diagnosed with the illness in January, has so far failed to kick his nicotine addiction.

Swayze once confessed to being such a heavy smoker, he blazed his way through more than three packs of cigarettes a day.
