Lost fans remember with a heavy heart the day Bai Ling showed up as a guest star, teaching Jack the ways of tattoos and romance in Thailand. Blech. The “actress” could have been credited with ruining the show forever had it not finally gotten its act together soon afterwards.
Now Bai will be taking a shot at destroying another venerable cultural milestone, Crank, which is getting a sequel that starts filming later this month. The Hollywood Reporter writes that she’ll come on board as Rai, a hooker who follows around the main character Chev Chelios (Jason Statham) as he hunts down the gangster who replaced his real heart with an electronic, time bomb version. It would be mean to say that her red carpet fashion has prepared her well for the role of a hooker (see plenty of examples here), but I’m gonna say it anyway. Girl enjoys showing off skin, and it looks like this movie will give her a chance to do what she loves.
Other casting news in the same item reveals that Amy Smart will repeat her role as Chev’s girlfriend, with Efren Ramirez and Dwight Yoakam also returning. Sorry to say it to them, but they probably won’t be able to compete with the walking circus of crazy that is Bai Ling. She may prove at some point that she can actually act, but I don’t think this will be the movie to prove it. Oddly enough, I think Crank 2: High Voltage will be more fun for it.
