Guillermo Del ToroIn a move that had been long rumored, Guillermo del Toro has offiically signed on to direct The Hobbit and it's sequel.
The films will be a prequel to the wildly popular Lord of the Rings series, which grossed nearly $3 billion worldwide and will be executive produced by Lord of the Rings overloard Peter Jackson and his co-screenwriter/wife Fran Walsh.
Del Toro is best known for directing the Hellboy series and the Oscar-nominated Pan's Labyrinth.
