HOLLYWOOD - U.S. schoolteachers can see the new
Hilary Swank movie Freedom Writers for free at AMC Entertainment, Inc. cinemas for a week starting Friday.
The double Oscar winner stars in the film as an idealistic English teacher trying to overcome racial intolerance among her students in a Long Beach, California, high school.
However, the move to entice teacher cinemagoers follows their unhappiness that Swank stars in the movie--after coming under fire for taking on the role because she never finished high school herself.
Freedom Writers has so far taken $26.5 million at the box office, where it is currently the fifth most popular film.
An AMC Entertainment, Inc. representative says, "We hope this (offer) will help express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for all that teachers do, often with very little thanks in return."
