Michelle Williams has had one heck of a year. Between shacking up with heart-throb Heath Ledger, having a baby, and scoring an Oscar nod for her powerful performance in Brokeback Mountain, she must be walking on sunshine. Not to mention massively sleep-deprived. None of that will change anytime soon, since she has signed on to star in another movie.
This time around, she’ll be playing the lead character in Bronte, a movie about the life of Charlotte Bronte, author of “Jane Eyre”. According to ProductionWeekly, the film will be written and directed by theater actress Angela Workman, who last wrote the movie The War Bride.
Williams will join a top-notch cast, including Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Imelda Staunton, Brian Cox and Ben Chaplin. It’s funny; back when “Dawson’s Creek” was on the air, creator Kevin Williamson saw Katie Holmes as the golden child whose talent would send her right to the A-list. Last year, while Williams got nominated for an Oscar, Holmes got nominated for a Razzie award. Who’s laughing now?
