The first annual Staten Island Film Festival has wrapped up, and handed out a fair share of trophies. They presented a program of over 100 indie films hand-picked for their local and national cultural significance. The biggest of the bunch is The Celestine Prophecy, which made its New York premiere and enticed 1,500 people to show up. Not too shabby, considering many New Yorkers (myself included) can’t be bothered hopping on the ferry to Staten Island unless apocalypse is nearing.
