Last week we brought you the news that Charlize Theron was signing up for the new protestor movie Battle in Seattle, and now the rest of the cast is shaping up.
Production Weekly reports that Susan Sarandon and flaming hot Fantastic Four star Chris Evans are in negotiations to stop bathing and join the anti-war rallying cast.
The film will be shot in documentary style to tell the story of the 40 – 60,000 protestors who descended on Seattle and paralyzed the city to bring the World Trade Organization's meetings to a halt in November 1999. That was back when protestors didn't have better things to do, you know like protesting the war in Iraq.
Theron will play an objective observer named Lou who loses her child in the sea jobless protestors. Real life protestor and activist Susan Sarandon will be a sympathetic newscaster. Evans' role remains unknown, but he seems a natural fit as some sort of dirty hippy.
Sure they ran the WTO out of town, but what did these protestors really accomplish? I'm sure the Stuart Townsend written and directed movie will try to find something to dangle as an accomplishment, but the world has changed a lot since 1999. Big name cast or not, I'm not sure I really care. Now tell the story from the poor, put-upon Seattle citizens whose lives were screwed up by a bunch of noisy, listless, rabble-rousing vagrants and maybe you've got something. Theron's part as an outside observer could end up filling exactly that role.
