I was dissapointed in Flyboys, which is a shame since according to MGM it's the first major World War I picture in more than 40 years. While I can't say I'm eager to see guys slogging around with primitive weapons in trenches, the bi-plane deserves more play in movie theaters. Flyboys doesn't get even that quite right, but just seeing those primitive aircraft on screen with today's sharp, modern techniques might be worth the price of admission for some.

MGM has just handed us a new batch of stills from the film, and even as someone whose seen and disliked the film I have to admit that these photographs get my adrenaline pumping again. Why doesn't someone with some knowhow tackle World War I fighter pilots? The interesting thing about it to me is how new the technology is. Man hadn't developed a practical use for planes before the war started. They first time they were really used on a large scale was as killing machines. There has to be an incredible movie in there somewhere.
