Man God Sam Raimi has deemed to make another comic book movie, Dark Horse’s "ArchEnemies". Now don’t get too excited, he is not directing, he's only bought the rights for his production company Ghost House. In fact things are incredibly early at the moment, and according to IESB there’s no writer or director even close to being attached.
The idea for the comic is funny, a sort of Super Hero Odd Couple. A hero and his arch enemy duel above the city during the night. During the day they live in a rattrap apartment and attempt to force each other to move out. The idea is cute and clever, maybe a bit too cute and clever. Its seems like it would be the sort of thing that would be funny for about fifteen minutes on Adult Swim, but might not work as a full length film.
Superhero comedies are notoriously hard to pull off, and Ghost House tends to deal with films of the quality of Boogeyman. Aas a result, you’ll have to excuse me if I put my excitement level at “mildly interested” instead of “jumping for joy”. Of course if Raimi where directing it’d be a completely different thing, I’m the sort of Raimi fan who is able to derive pleasure from even For The Love Of The Game, and The Quick and The Dead. Of course this early on in the project anything could happen, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
