Keira Knightley is about to star in a movie written by her mother. You might think she's doing mommy a favor, but apparently Sharman Macdonald is actually a playwright in her own right. In other words, she really can write.
According to Production Weekly, the film is called The Best Time of Our Lives, and Jacket director John Maybury will helm it. This of course means I can't see the movie, since I was nearly killed three times in my three attempts to see The Jacket. Once I did see it, it wasn't worth the risk to life and limb. No I'm not a superstitious person, but I’m also not big on tempting fate. Actually I don't believe in fate either, so I'm not sure what to use as my excuse. Unreasoning, illogical fear?
Set in 1945, the film fleshes out the background to a real-life incident involving famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, his wife, her friend Vera and her husband. Keira will play Vera. PW's gives no clue on exactly what that incident is, and a quick search on Wikipedia reveals nothing of significance in his history around the year 1945 or involving someone named Vera. With a title like The Best Time of Our Lives it's probably not a mass murder. Unless the title's supposed to be ironic. Alright, I guess it could be just about anything.
