We’ve seen feature film directors discovered from some pretty insignificant projects. Not that we’re making light of anyone’s ability. Some of those MTV music video directors have proven to be pretty good, although McG isn’t exactly among the best examples of that. Wayne McClammy is about to give all of them a run for their money, coming from one of the most insignificant and yet most discussed video projects in recent memory.
McClammy is the genius director behind Jimmy Kimmel Live’s sensational shorts, I’m F**king Matt Damon and the retaliation, I’m F**king Ben Affleck. The writer/director for Jimmy Kimmel has also done some work on Kimmel’s girlfriend’s show, The Sarah Silverman Program. Now he’s moving from video shorts and sketches to a full length picture.
Variety reports that McClammy has signed on to direct Fox’s comedy Cool School. The story actually leaves something to be desired when compared to I’m F**king Ben Affleck - it tells the story of a couple of thirty-something ad execs who go back to high school to learn how to be cool again. Let me tell you – it starts by not being freakin’ thirty year olds in high school!
Okay, so Cool School doesn’t sound that great on paper, but probably I’m F**king Matt Damon didn’t either. Just for a point of comparison, here’s the superior Kimmel response, starring Kimmel, Brad Pitt, Harrison Ford, and, of course, Ben Affleck:
