Diane Lane is stepping out of her usual mold of hopeless romantic or cheating wife to play an FBI Agent in the new movie Untraceable, according to The Hollywood Reporter. I know, the title's similarity to her award winning movie Unfaithful almost makes it sound like a joke but I've checked my calendar and verified that it is in fact, October. So while it's entirely possible that the movie could be cursed, there's not much chance of Lane jumping out of my closet and shouting "April Fools!" right after I finish typing this.
Untraceable is a thriller about an FBI cyber-cop (Lane) racing to track down an online predator before Dateline can beat them to the punch and thus circumvent due process to try and convict the guy on national television.
Yes, I made up that last part about Dateline.
The popularity of child molesting continues to grow, both as a media fad and apparently as a way for priests, politicians, and lonely guys to relax on the weekend. I'm not sure all the exposure it's getting is really helping. At best it's scaring people out of their heads without reason. It was only a matter of time before Hollywood cashed in on the masses manic fear to make serious money. Child molesters are well on their way to replacing Nazi's as the default movie villains of choice, and I for one will miss seeing Swastikas blown to bits by machinegun bullets.
