HOLLYWOOD - Comedian Joan Rivers was asked to leave the set of a U.K. daytime talk show on Tuesday after calling Russell Crowe names.
The controversial funny lady was talking about her experiences on the red carpets at award shows in Hollywood, where she famously drills stars about their fashion sense--and occasionally abuses them on live TV.
But producers on British live show Loose Women were far from amused when Rivers called Oscar winner a "f**king s**t."
Rivers warned the crew to "get ready to bleep," before making her remarks known, but she didn't realize the show doesn't come with a censor--and her comments went out to viewers live.
The flustered co-hosts immediately apologized for Rivers' foul language while giggling about the slip-up, but show bosses weren't quite so light on their guest--they reportedly asked Rivers to leave the set during the commercial break.
A spokesperson for the show says, "Guests are always briefed that it is a live daytime show and are reminded not to swear or use inappropriate language.
"An editorial decision was taken that Joan Rivers should not appear in the final part of the program. We would like to apologize to Loose Women viewers for the inappropriate language used on today's show."
Rivers says, "Everyone apologized. It was hilariously funny."
