Seth Rogen Is a Busy Man

In the last year, Seth Rogen has really jumped into the spotlight. He was great in the supporting role in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, but last year not only did he leap into a leading role with Knocked Up, he also got to show his writing talent with Superbad. This year Rogen has ramped things up even more with Pineapple Express, Zack and Miri Make A Porno, and vocal roles in The Spiderwick Chronicles and Kung Fu Panda.

It doesn’t look like Rogen is slowing down anytime soon. The actor/writer recently gave Moviehole an interview and talked about his upcoming plans, which include sequels, adaptations, and another Judd Apatow flick on the horizon.

Rogen’s highest profile project on deck is his adaptation of old-school super-hero The Green Hornet, which has a completed script. The studio is currently searching for a director, according to Rogen, with plans to shoot around February or March of next year. The hope is to release the movie, which got an official logo in the past few weeks, in June of 2010.

Rogen headlines Kevin Smith’s Zack and Miri Make A Porno later this year, but he says he didn’t know that the director had been working on a Green Hornet adaptation before Rogen. Since he learned this the two have talked about their individual takes on the characters, which both Rogen and Smith describe as being very different. ”I think we’ve got a little more freedom than he did – with the material and so on” Rogen says, ”which, you know, is great for us!” Rogen says he’ll be part of a San Diego Comic-Con promotion for Zack and Miri.

The Pineapple Express will also be putting in an appearance at Comic-Con. In fact, its press junket will be held during the convention. Even though the first one hasn’t opened yet, Rogen says he’d be interested in returning to the characters for a sequel, something he hasn’t been keen on doing in the past. ”They’re been wanting us to do a sequel to Superbad for so long – but we’ve held off. We eventually said No. But this one, it’s not a precious coming-of-age story like Superbad, it’s a weed action-movie and if it did well, and they gave us like $50 million dollars (as opposed to the $26M we got for this one) we could benefit from that.”
