Another day, another sequel story. Fresh off the mediocre The Good Shepherd, Robert De Niro expressed a desire to do a sequel or two while promoting his latest film. The former taxi driver said that he’d like to do a second movie that followed the CIA from the time the Berlin Wall went up in 1961 to when it fell in 1989, reports Variety.
“It’s all fascinating stuff – terrifying and fascinating, the whole East-West conflict,” an awestruck De Niro said. “So amazingly haunting and spooky. It was like another world [going into East Berlin]”
Being so amazed, fascinated. and haunted by the cold war, De Niro also added that he’d like to take it another step further and do a third movie, taking the story from the fall of communism to the current Iraq conflict. The possibility of seeing more meandering cold war movies from De Niro is the terrifying part. Whether the sequels will ever come to fruition is up for debate, but if De Niro has his way, he’ll be making CIA themed movies for a long time to come.
